Youths from across the Southeast gathered at Akanu Ibiam International Airport on Sunday, 29th July, 2018 to welcome the newly elected officers of the National Youth Council of Nigeria from the SouthEast led by the Deputy National President, Comr. Innocent Nduanya. The election which held in Gombe State had in attendance youths from across the country.
It was a great crowd from the five states of the SouthEast that gathered at the airport to give the Deputy President a heroic welcome.
Speaking to journalists at the airport, Comr. Nduanya reitrated the commitment of the newly elected government to ensure that the Nigerian youths take their rightful place in the politics of the nation. According to him, the youths of Nigeria are prepared to have a united front, speak with one voice and ensure that they are not relegated to the background any longer. He said in his statement that the various sub groups of youths in the country will be operating under the umbrella of the NYCN and as such, there will be no division or rancour among Nigerian youths any longer.
He however sent a word to all political parties in the country to ensure that come 2019, 60% of their tickets are given to youths at all levels. This should include Federal, State and Local Government levels. He made it clear that only parties that comply with this directives will get the support of the Nigerian youths who make over 70% of the nation's population.

"The youths can no longer be used as thugs and instruments of election disruption in our country. Our youths now know what they want and this time around it is no longer business as usual'
"For the Igbo youths, it is time to come together to take what belongs to us. We know what we want and that is true federalism and proper restructuring of the current arrangement of things in the country."
"We will be touring the 36 states of the country as we did during the elections. We will be touring the country to sensitize youths to know what they want and pursue it. Most of us have been able to withstand hunger for years before we got to wherer we are today. If the youths learn to bear the pain of their good decisions and stand by them, we will have a greater future. It is nigerian youths that placed us where we are and we will not disappoint them"
Other matters he pointed out bordered on the plans of the Council to be all-inclusive in their decisions and resolutions. He explained that the Council will ensure that all youth organizations and associations in the Southeast are carried along in their decisions and their respective interests protected.
Also speaking to journalists on his mission for the youths in Southeast, Prince Chibuike Echem, the National Vice President, Southeast NYCN, said it is our time. According to him, it is time to reconcile every faction with a united voice, one identity and one front from the SouthEast. He reitirated the comments of the National Deputy President that is will not be business as usual. He said gone are the days when the youths are bought over to do the biddings of others. It will henceforth the interest of the youths or nothing.
Lastly, we spoke to Comr. Agnuncha Izunna Chidulue, the newly elected Organizing Secretary, NCYN, SouthEast Zone who said that in the line of politics, it is believed that the youths are tools in the hands of the politicians. It will no longer happen as the youths are waking up to their responsibilities, their needs and their interests. He promised that his office will do well to support every youth in the SouthEast who have great ideas and create opportunities for the youths in the Southeast who have entrepreneurship running in their blood. According to him, the Council will be working with established entrepreneurs like Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah who they have visited after the election to discuss wasy through which the Council can woirk together with him to create more opportunities for the youths in the SouthEast.
